  Here's a simple recipe for making chai: Ingredients: 2 cups of water 2 cups of milk (cow's milk or non-dairy milk) 2-3 black tea bags or 2-3 teaspoons of loose leaf black tea 2-3 cinnamon sticks 2-3 green cardamom pods 2-3 whole cloves 1-inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and grated 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper (optional) 1/4 cup of sugar or sweetener of your choice (optional) Instructions: In a medium-sized pot, bring the water to a boil. Add the tea bags or loose leaf tea, cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods, cloves, ginger, and black pepper (if using) to the pot. Reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes. Add the milk to the pot and bring the mixture back to a simmer. Turn off the heat and let the mixture steep for about 3-5 minutes.
