chai recipe
Here's a simple recipe for making chai:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of water
- 2 cups of milk (cow's milk or non-dairy milk)
- 2-3 black tea bags or 2-3 teaspoons of loose leaf black tea
- 2-3 cinnamon sticks
- 2-3 green cardamom pods
- 2-3 whole cloves
- 1-inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and grated
- 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper (optional)
- 1/4 cup of sugar or sweetener of your choice (optional)
Instructions:
- In a medium-sized pot, bring the water to a boil.
- Add the tea bags or loose leaf tea, cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods, cloves, ginger, and black pepper (if using) to the pot.
- Reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Add the milk to the pot and bring the mixture back to a simmer.
- Turn off the heat and let the mixture steep for about 3-5 minutes.
- Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into cups or a pitcher.
- Add sugar or sweetener of your choice, if desired.
- Enjoy your homemade chai while it's hot!
Note: You can adjust the ingredients and the quantity of the spices as per your preference. You can also add some honey or vanilla extract for extra flavor.
